Jamaican Brothers Killed, Third Person Injured in Shooting Outside West Haven Bar
Two brothers from Litchfield were killed and a third person was injured in a shooting outside a bar in West Haven early Saturday morning, according to police.
The victims have been identified as Dravere Blake and his brother, Daniel Blake, also known as Miguel. Both men were natives of Litchfield, Trelawny, Jamaica.
Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 600 block of Campbell Avenue around 1:27 a.m. Upon arrival, they found three shooting victims. One person suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and leg and was conscious when first responders arrived.
The Blake brothers were found across the street with gunshot wounds and were unresponsive. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
Investigators believe all three victims were outside the bar before the shooting occurred. Police have focused their investigation on Muzeum Sports Bar N Grill and say the violence appears to be connected to activity at the establishment rather than a random attack.
Authorities emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public, but a portion of Campbell Avenue remained closed for several hours as detectives processed the scene and gathered evidence.
The investigation remains in its early stages, and police have not announced any arrests. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact investigators.
