23-Year-Old Woman Identified in Charlotte Homicide Investigation

The victim in a homicide under investigation in Charlotte has been identified as Sa’Niya Briana Charise Latimore, 23, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police said officers responded shortly after 9:15 p.m. on June 19 to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and multiple calls regarding a fight inside an apartment in the 1100 block of Scaleybark Road in the city’s Westover Division.

When officers arrived, they found Latimore suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives with CMPD’s Homicide Unit launched an investigation, with assistance from Crime Scene Search, Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC.

CMPD Major Brad Koch said officers received several 911 calls reporting a fight at the apartment. Authorities have not disclosed how Latimore died, and police have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect.

Investigators say the case remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact CMPD’s Homicide Unit or submit anonymous tips through Charlotte Crime Stoppers.

Police said Latimore’s next of kin have been notified of her death.
