A devastating road accident in Adamawa State has claimed the lives of at least six people, including four serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, a Nigerian Army soldier, and another passenger.
The fatal crash occurred at about 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, along the Narehi section of the Girei–Song Highway. According to reports, a military gun truck collided with a commercial Hummer bus, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.
The intense fire engulfed the bus, trapping its occupants inside. All five passengers aboard the bus lost their lives at the scene, while the soldier involved in the collision also died.
Preliminary identification by the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that four of the victims were NYSC corps members serving in Adamawa State. Two of the deceased have been identified as Suleiman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both from Kaduna State. Authorities are continuing efforts to confirm the identities of the remaining victims.
The heartbreaking incident has left families, friends, fellow corps members, and communities in mourning. As investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash, many have expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peaceful repose of the victims.
