7-Year-Old Boy Killed in Brutal Home Invasion as Great-Grandmother Injured in Guyana

A community in Guyana is mourning the tragic loss of 7-year-old Adriel Aftab Mohamed, who was found dead inside his home at the Phase 3 Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, on Friday morning.

According to reports, the child was killed during a violent home invasion that also left his 72-year-old great-grandmother, Halima Itwari, injured. She was transported to hospital for medical treatment and is recovering from her injuries.

The heartbreaking incident has shocked residents and raised renewed concerns about violent crimes targeting vulnerable members of society, including children and elderly persons.

Speaking to reporters, Adriel’s father, Altab Mohamed, expressed his devastation over the loss of his son. He explained that he had been working to provide for his family and was overcome with grief that he was not there to protect the child.

Police have launched an investigation into the killing and have reportedly recovered a knife believed to be connected to the attack. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and are working to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible.

As family members, friends, and neighbors struggle to come to terms with the tragedy, many are calling for justice for the young boy and for those responsible to be brought before the courts.
