Authorities are continuing to investigate the death of Rebecca Patnaude, who was found deceased inside a room at a motel in Taylor.
According to police, Patnaude’s body was discovered by a hotel employee conducting a room check at a Red Roof Inn. Investigators said her boyfriend, Christopher Schoonmaker, had reportedly been staying in the room with her body for several days before leaving the area.
Police reported that the room was found in extremely cluttered, hoarder-like conditions, with significant amounts of trash present. Two dogs were also located inside the room.
Investigators say Schoonmaker allegedly fled the area and later used Patnaude’s credit cards. He is currently being sought for questioning as detectives work to establish a complete timeline of events.
An initial autopsy reportedly found no obvious signs of foul play, though authorities noted that Patnaude had serious pre-existing medical conditions. Final toxicology results are still pending and may take several months to be completed.
While the cause and manner of death have not yet been officially determined, police are treating the case as a potential crime and plan to submit their findings to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review once the investigation is complete.
🕊️ Condolences are extended to the family, friends, and loved ones of Rebecca Patnaude as they await answers during this difficult time.
