DEADLY PARKING LOT SHOOTING ROCKS SOUTHWEST HOUSTON — GUNMAN STILL ON THE RUN

A young man is dead after a violent shooting erupted outside a southwest Houston convenience store Sunday evening, and the suspected gunman remains at large.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers rushed to the convenience store located in the 8900 block of Braesmont Drive around 7 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.

Investigators say an argument quickly turned deadly when one man allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire on another before fleeing the scene.

Surveillance footage reviewed by detectives revealed that a physical fight broke out moments before the shooting, shedding light on the violent confrontation that ended in tragedy.

The victim was discovered lying in the grass near the parking lot by a passerby, who immediately called 911. Despite efforts by first responders to save him, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Houston Police Lt. JP Horelica said both the victim and the suspect appear to be in their late teens or early 20s.

The shooter has not yet been identified and remains on the run as detectives work to piece together the events leading up to the deadly encounter.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact Houston Police or Crime Stoppers immediately.
