A heartbreaking case that has shocked Cebu. 19-year-old Jeani Pyrll Belardo, who was reported missing, was found dead in a grassy area on May 27, 2026, leaving her family and community devastated.
Authorities say the investigation led them to a 42-year-old tricycle driver after the victim’s missing iPad was tracked through GPS to a nearby town where it had allegedly been sold.
Police identified the suspect as Anthony Balugo Antig, who was later arrested after reportedly attempting to flee with his family.
Investigators revealed that during questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming he became angry over delayed gas money. A follow-up operation at his residence reportedly led to the recovery of a knife and the victim’s burned clothing.
Authorities also disclosed that the suspect had previous drug-related arrests and is known to law enforcement as a drug user.
