A former corrections officer who was on duty the night convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was found dead has told the House Oversight Committee that her life was upended by years of threats, harassment, and conspiracy theories surrounding the case.
According to a transcript of her interview with the committee, the former officer said she has faced persistent accusations alleging she played a role in facilitating or concealing Epstein’s death. She rejected those claims and described the personal toll the allegations have taken on her life, career, and well-being.
Epstein was found dead in his jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide, but it has remained the subject of widespread public speculation and numerous conspiracy theories.
The former corrections officer’s testimony forms part of the committee’s ongoing review of the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s detention and death, as lawmakers continue to examine procedures, oversight, and accountability within the federal prison system.
The case remains one of the most scrutinized jail deaths in recent U.S. history, with officials and investigators continuing to face questions years after the incident.
