Brother Killed, Sibling Injured in Brooklyn Shooting; Suspect at Large

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A tragic shooting near a Brooklyn subway station Thursday afternoon left one brother dead and another seriously injured, authorities reported.

The NYPD confirmed the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Sutter and Euclid avenues. Both victims, 20-year-old men, were found suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.

Darius Coles was shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at a hospital. His brother sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and a graze wound to the head, but authorities say he is expected to survive.

Police sources told PIX11 News that the suspected shooter fled the scene on a bicycle, and no arrests have been made. The NYPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward as the community reels from the sudden violence.
