Authorities in Ogun State have launched an investigation following the discovery of three bodies inside a home in the Egbe Subair area of Ijebu-Igbo.
According to reports, a woman, her four-year-old son, and a man identified locally as “Shanko” were found deceased on Wednesday under circumstances that have left residents searching for answers.
The woman and the man were reportedly discovered in the toilet area of the residence, while the young child was found in one of the rooms inside the house.
Residents who arrived at the scene reported noticing signs that suggested a possible struggle may have occurred before the deaths. Some sections of the property, including parts of the toilet area, were reportedly damaged. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Community members have speculated about possible poisoning, but authorities have not confirmed a cause of death.
Speaking on the matter, Ogun State Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the command has commenced a full investigation and urged the public to remain calm while detectives work to establish the facts.
Police confirmed that the bodies have been transferred to the General Hospital Mortuary in Ijebu-Igbo, where further examinations are expected to assist investigators.
At this stage, officials have not released the identities of the deceased, and the cause of death remains undetermined.
