💔 72-Year-Old Woman Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash on Interstate 90

A Minnesota family is mourning the tragic loss of Evelyn Marie Brye, 72, of St. James, who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 in Olmsted County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, first responders were dispatched to the scene shortly before 9 a.m. following a serious collision involving an SUV, a passenger car, and a semi-truck near the Highway 52 interchange east of Rochester.

Investigators say the chain-reaction crash began when the semi-truck sideswiped the passenger car traveling eastbound on I-90. The car then crossed into the westbound lanes and entered the path of an oncoming SUV driven by Evelyn Brye.

The collision proved fatal, and Brye was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the driver of the passenger car as Alex Whiteis, 46, of Austin, who was traveling with Reese Whiteis, 18, of Austin. Both escaped the crash without injuries. The semi-truck driver, Lewis Plaskey, 43, of Loyal, Wisconsin, was also not injured.

According to the State Patrol, all occupants involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not considered a factor.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.

The sudden loss of Evelyn Brye has left family, friends, and members of her community grieving. What began as a routine morning drive ended in a tragedy that serves as a painful reminder of how quickly lives can change on the road.
