🚨 Woman Charged in Deadly Minneapolis Robbery Setup That Ended in Fatal Shooting

A 23-year-old Minneapolis woman is now facing serious felony charges after prosecutors say a planned robbery turned deadly and left a man shot to death inside a vacant Northside home.

According to court documents, Makeysa Nysa Morgan has been charged with first-degree aggravated robbery and aiding an offender after the fact in connection with the November 14, 2023 homicide near the 3700 block of Newton Avenue North.

Investigators say the victim had been communicating through Facebook Messenger about purchasing marijuana before being directed to a vacant house where prosecutors allege a robbery had been planned.

Court records claim Morgan, along with co-defendant Derrick Taylor and another accomplice, believed the victim would be carrying marijuana, cash, or both.

Authorities say the victim was led upstairs inside the home, unaware that two armed men were allegedly hiding inside a closet waiting for him.

According to the complaint, the victim became suspicious and opened the closet door before Taylor allegedly opened fire. The victim suffered eight gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner later ruled the death a homicide.

Prosecutors allege Morgan stayed inside the getaway vehicle during the setup and later drove Taylor away from the scene after he allegedly ran from the house carrying a gun.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured the suspect vehicle leaving the area and later picking up another individual tied to the case.

Court documents further state Morgan admitted during questioning that she was present during the incident and acknowledged driving the vehicle after the shooting.

Morgan remains in custody with bail set at $500,000 as court proceedings continue.
