Victim Identified in Hibbing Apartment Homicide

Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at the Meadowview Apartments in Hibbing.

Police say 24-year-old Parker Charles Johnson, a Hibbing resident, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest after officers responded to reports of gunfire around 2 a.m. Despite immediate life-saving efforts from first responders and medical personnel, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

By early Sunday afternoon, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers confirmed that a male suspect was taken into custody in connection with the homicide. While police have not yet released the suspect’s name, investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Hibbing Police Department continues to lead the investigation with assistance from the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Chisholm Police Department, and Hibbing Fire Department.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact 911 or the Hibbing Police Department directly.

This marks one of the most serious violent incidents in Hibbing this year, as friends and family mourn the loss of Parker Johnson while police continue to piece together what led to the tragic shooting.
