Victim Identified in Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision
Authorities have identified the woman killed in a tragic vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision on Tuesday night as 55-year-old Tina Taylor of Clovis. The fatal incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. near Clovis Avenue and Griffith Way, south of Ashlan Avenue.
According to the Clovis Police Department, officers arrived to find Taylor critically injured after being struck by a northbound vehicle while crossing Clovis Avenue eastbound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Preliminary findings indicate that drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the crash. The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) temporarily closed Clovis Avenue as they examined the scene.
In light of this tragedy, police reminded the community to prioritize safety on the roads. They urged drivers to stay alert, slow down in dimly lit areas, and always yield to pedestrians. Pedestrians are encouraged to use crosswalks, wear reflective clothing at night, and remain aware of their surroundings.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
