Michigan City Police Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run on Indiana State Road 212
The Michigan City Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on October 27, 2025, on the 700 block of Indiana State Road 212.
At approximately 3:14 PM, LaPorte County E-911 Dispatch received a call about a body found in a ditch by a pedestrian. Officers from the Michigan City Police Department responded to the scene and discovered the body of a deceased adult male, later identified as 31-year-old Gregory Wyse of Michigan City.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Wyse was walking south on Indiana State Road 212 when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling in the same direction. After the impact, the vehicle left the scene. Investigators processed the area and collected evidence, which temporarily closed the road while they conducted their investigation.
The Michigan City Police Department has not released further details due to the ongoing investigation. However, they have confirmed that there is no known threat to public safety.
