Mazen Mammo – Michigan Man Killed in Fatal I-75 Semi-Truck Crash in Allen County
BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A tragic crash on Interstate 75 in Allen County claimed the life of 37-year-old Mazen Mammo of Madison Heights, Michigan, early Wednesday morning. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred near the State Route 81 exit around 10:13 a.m. and involved three semi-trucks.
Investigators reported that Mammo was driving a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia southbound when his vehicle struck a 2020 Volvo 860 semi operated by 63-year-old Nadril Salvatore of Jacksonville, Florida. The impact pushed Salvatore’s truck into another semi, a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia driven by 73-year-old Jean Fervil of McDonough, Georgia.
Mammo’s truck ignited after the crash. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Lucas County Morgue by Allen Mortuary Services. Both Salvatore and Fervil sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The collision caused extensive damage and significant delays as crews extinguished the blaze, cleared debris, and removed wreckage. Multiple local and county emergency agencies assisted at the scene, as well as the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Authorities confirmed the crash remains under investigation, citing possible contributing factors such as road conditions, vehicle performance, and driver actions. This tragic accident highlights the ongoing dangers of highway travel and the importance of safety when sharing the road with large commercial vehicles.
