ATLANTA — A 32-year-old man was shot Tuesday afternoon during a confrontation while selling bottled water near the Cleveland Avenue exit off Interstate 75 in southwest Atlanta. The incident occurred just after 3:24 p.m. on October 28, 2025, and involved a suspect driving a black Jeep.

Authorities identified the victim as DeMarcus Buford, who sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm. Medical personnel treated him at the scene; he was reported alert and conscious following the shooting. According to Buford, the dispute began as a verbal argument with the Jeep’s driver, who initially left the scene but later returned with a woman recording from inside the vehicle before firing at him.

Police have not released a detailed description of the suspect or the vehicle and have not confirmed the woman’s role in the incident. Investigators are reviewing the scene for potential surveillance footage and seeking any witnesses who may have captured the shooting or the suspect’s license plate.

Aggravated assault detectives are handling the investigation, aiming to determine the motive and identify those responsible. Buford has expressed his intent to press charges and is cooperating with law enforcement.
