Liberty County Deputies Identify Suspect in Deadly Bar Shooting

Authorities in Liberty County, Texas, have identified the suspect accused of opening fire at a local sports bar over the weekend, killing two people and injuring four others.

According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano allegedly walked into the Alas Locos bar just after midnight Sunday, drank a beer, then left to retrieve a gun from his white van. Moments later, investigators say, he opened fire on patrons outside the bar.

Six people were shot during the attack. Two victims, 30-year-old Alexis Jasso and 43-year-old Francisco Navarrete, tragically died from their injuries. Four others were rushed to nearby hospitals and are recovering from gunshot wounds.

Deputies say Cantillano fled the scene in his van, which is still believed to be his vehicle of travel. Investigators suspect he may be heading toward New Orleans or Atlanta.

During follow-up searches at his residence, authorities arrested his wife, 23-year-old Alejandra Marie Valdez Montoya, on charges of tampering with evidence. She is currently being held at the Liberty County Jail.

The tragedy has shaken the local community. “I’m mad because even if he gets caught, it’s not going to bring my friends back,” said Yahaira Guadarrama, who knew one of the victims. “Hope to God that he gets caught and pays for what he did.”

Deputies are urging anyone with information on Cantillano’s whereabouts to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
