Indianapolis Man Arrested After Woman Shot and Killed in Domestic Dispute

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A 38-year-old man, Steven Baker Jr., has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman on the city’s near northwest side on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a home on West 34th Street near North Harding Street, just south of I-65, where they found the woman dead from a gunshot wound.

The suspect, Steven Baker Jr., was located nearby and taken into custody after a brief struggle. Authorities have arrested Baker on a preliminary charge of murder.

Investigators believe the incident was related to a domestic dispute.

IMPD officials expressed their sorrow, with a department spokesperson stating, “It’s very sad when relationships end in violence.”

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine further details. Baker remains in custody, awaiting charges.
