Fatal Crash on Route 222 Leaves One Dead and Multiple Injured
A fatal crash Monday morning on Route 222 near the Kutztown Road overpass has left one person dead and several others injured.
Fleetwood Police, along with other emergency response teams, were dispatched to the scene just before 11 a.m. on October 27, 2025, following reports of a multi-vehicle accident.
According to Chief Dale Ulshafer of the Fleetwood Police Department, three vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles had flipped over the bridge, and several passengers were ejected. Tragically, one person was confirmed dead at the scene.
Initial investigations revealed that a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 222 crossed the grassy median and collided with two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. The southbound vehicle, which suffered the most severe impact, flipped off the overpass, leading to critical injuries and the fatality. The occupants of the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries.
The Berks County Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the ongoing investigation. Police have confirmed that the investigation is still in its early stages, and further details will be released as they become available.
