Fatal Crash Near Colonial Drive Claims Life of Thibodaux Pedestrian
Louisiana State Police Troop C is investigating a tragic crash that claimed the life of 81-year-old Lois Blanchard of Thibodaux late Saturday night.
Authorities say the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 20 near Colonial Drive, when a 1994 Buick Park Avenue traveling south struck Blanchard, who was standing in the left lane of the roadway.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported Blanchard to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Buick was not injured and cooperated fully with investigators, voluntarily submitting a breath sample that revealed no signs of alcohol impairment.
A standard toxicology report for Blanchard has been ordered as the investigation continues. Officials have not released details about why she was in the roadway at the time of the crash.
Louisiana State Police remind both pedestrians and motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially during nighttime hours. Wearing reflective clothing, avoiding dark roadways, and remaining alert to traffic can save lives.
This remains an active investigation by Troop C, and additional details may be released as they become available.
