Detectives Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspect in Felony Stealing Case
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man wanted in connection with a felony stealing incident that occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025 in downtown St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the crime took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. as a wheelchair-bound victim was traveling home along the 1000 block of Washington Avenue. Investigators say the suspect approached the victim, grabbed a briefcase from the victim’s lap, and fled on foot.
Officers later recovered the stolen briefcase nearby, but it was reportedly damaged. Police have released a description of the suspect in hopes the public can assist in identifying him.
The suspect is described as a Black male of medium build, wearing a black hat with red lettering, a black hair cap, a Cardinals jersey, gray sweatpants, and light-colored shoes at the time of the incident.
District 4 detectives are handling the investigation and urge anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to call (314) 444-2500. Those who wish to remain anonymous and potentially qualify for a cash reward may contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
Police emphasize that only tips submitted to CrimeStoppers which directly lead to a felony arrest are eligible for the program’s cash rewards.
Officials are hopeful that with the community’s help, the suspect can be identified and arrested, bringing justice to the victim and preventing similar incidents in the future.
