Dave Evans Identified in Fatal Salisbury Shooting; Investigation Underway

Authorities have identified the man killed in Sunday’s police-involved shooting on Jefferson Street as Dave Evans, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Officials say the incident unfolded after Maryland State Police responded around 5:00 p.m. to a reported shooting at a North Westover Drive residence in Wicomico County. When troopers arrived, they discovered a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where the female victim was pronounced deceased. The male victim remains hospitalized.

As the investigation developed, law enforcement located a suspect on Jefferson Street shortly before 7:00 p.m. During that encounter, a police-involved shooting occurred, resulting in the death of Dave Evans.

No officers were injured during the incident. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is investigating the original homicide, while the Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is reviewing the officer-involved shooting.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased female pending next of kin notification.

The investigation remains ongoing.
