Canton Man Arrested in Connection with Dorchester Murder

    Boston, MA – September 4, 2025
A Canton man has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a Boston resident that occurred four months ago in Dorchester.

Boston police confirmed that Jordan Evans, 32, is facing one count of murder and five gun-related charges in connection with the death of Shakar Caterson, 35, a Dorchester resident.

Authorities said a warrant for Evans’ arrest was issued earlier on Thursday, Sept. 4. Later that morning, around 11:45 a.m., the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, assisted by the Massachusetts State Police and U.S. Marshals, arrested Evans in Canton.

The investigation stems from a deadly shooting on May 3, 2025, when officers responded to reports of gunfire near Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street just before 11 p.m. Caterson was found with a gunshot wound and was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Evans is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the charges. Boston police have not released further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding Caterson’s killing.
