14-Year-Old Jojo Killed in East Cherry Street Shooting in Evansville

A tragic shooting has claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy, identified by family and friends as Jojo, in Evansville on Thursday afternoon.
According to Central Dispatch, the first 911 call came in around 3:40 p.m. reporting a shooting near East Cherry Street and South Evans Avenue. Responding officers located Jojo with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts from first responders, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that one individual was detained in handcuffs, though investigators have not released details about their involvement or whether charges will follow. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
