British Train ‘Knifeman’ Identified as 32-Year-Old Anthony Williams; Faces 11 Attempted Murder Charges

The suspect accused of a knife rampage aboard a high-speed train bound for London has been identified as Anthony Williams, 32, of Peterborough. Williams appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with 11 counts of attempted murder and multiple weapons offenses.

Prosecutors allege that Williams carried out two separate knife attacks within hours of each other on November 1. The first incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. at Pontoon Dock Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in east London, where a man suffered severe facial injuries after being stabbed.

Later that evening, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Williams allegedly went on a stabbing spree aboard the LNER high-speed service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, where ten passengers were reportedly injured.

Court documents state that Williams used a “large kitchen knife” in both attacks. He also faces two counts of possessing a bladed article and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

Williams appeared in court wearing a grey sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms, handcuffed and escorted by four officers. The brief six-minute hearing saw him confirm his name and address, stating he had no fixed abode. No application for bail was made.

The case has been transferred to a Crown Court, where Williams will face further hearings. Authorities have confirmed that all 11 victims are receiving medical treatment, and none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
