Breaking News: Port Huron Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Suspect in Custody
PORT HURON, Mich. — A quiet Wednesday morning on the north side of Port Huron was shattered by gunfire when multiple people were shot at the Glenview Garden Apartments. Police have confirmed two deaths so far, with additional victims transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Port Huron Police Department responded to the incident earlier this morning after receiving emergency calls reporting gunfire at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers and EMS crews discovered several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite rapid medical response, two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say a suspect has been taken into custody, and Police Chief Brian Kerrigan emphasized that there is currently no ongoing threat to the community. While the suspect’s identity has not yet been released, police are urging residents to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity that may aid the investigation.
Details surrounding the victims and the suspect remain limited, as officials continue to process the scene and interview witnesses. Residents in the area reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire, with some describing the chaos that followed as neighbors rushed to safety.
“This is a devastating event for our community,” Chief Kerrigan said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families as we work diligently to uncover the full circumstances of this tragedy.”
The investigation remains active, and authorities have promised to release more details as they become available.
