Body Found in New Philadelphia Identified as 36-Year-Old Dennison Man

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — Authorities have identified the body discovered Sunday in a fenced lot on Maple Avenue Northwest as 36-year-old Bryant Sullivan of Dennison, according to the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.

The discovery was made around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, after a caller reported finding a body in a high-brush area near Walmart and Aldi. Officers from the New Philadelphia Police Department confirmed the presence of human remains, prompting an immediate investigation.

Rachel Fetty, an investigator with the coroner’s office, said that while the cause and manner of death remain under investigation, foul play is not suspected at this time. An autopsy is being conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office to provide more definitive answers.

Investigators believe Sullivan may have been deceased for several weeks before being found, based on his last contact with family. Notably, he had not been reported missing during that time.

Police Chief Tessa Pohovey confirmed the timeline and said officials are awaiting autopsy results to better understand what happened.

On social media, friends and family expressed shock and grief, noting Sullivan’s absence in recent weeks. Many shared condolences and prayers for his loved ones, who are now left with unanswered questions.

Authorities will release updates as soon as more information becomes available. In the meantime, the community continues to mourn the tragic and unexpected loss of Bryant Sullivan.
