Armed and Dangerous: Pickering on High Alert as Police Hunt Shooting Suspect After Late-Night Attack
PICKERING, ONTARIO — Police are searching for a 33-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting that left two people seriously injured in Pickering. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., when officers from West Division responded to reports of gunfire in a parking lot near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road.
Upon arrival, authorities found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre for treatment. Police confirmed that the injuries are serious, though the current condition of the victims has not been disclosed.
The suspect, identified as Mahiban Perinbanathan, age 33, of Bradford, is wanted for multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and discharging a firearm with intent to wound. Authorities have warned the public that he is considered armed and dangerous. Residents are urged not to approach him under any circumstances and to contact 9-1-1 immediately if he is seen.
