Man Shot in Parking Lot Dispute, Suspect on the Run in Marion
Marion, NC (October 27, 2025) — A shooting incident unfolded at CJ’s Convenience Store on North Main Street in Marion, leaving one man injured and another on the run.
At approximately 10:29 AM on Monday, Marion Police Officers responded to reports of a dispute and shooting at the store’s parking lot, near the gas pumps. Upon arrival, authorities learned that the victim and suspect had already fled the scene in separate vehicles.
Preliminary investigations and video footage revealed that Robert Owens, 40, and Donovan Wilson, 31, both of Marion, had a confrontation at the store. The dispute escalated when Owens allegedly pulled out a small-caliber handgun and shot Wilson, who was attempting to drive away at the time.
Following the shooting, Owens fled the scene in a 2007 burgundy Chevrolet Trail Blazer. Wilson, despite being shot once in the upper body, managed to drive away from the scene. Officers later stopped his vehicle, discovering his injuries, and immediately transported him to Mission Hospital in Asheville for treatment. Wilson’s passenger, Amber Lamb, 32, was unharmed during the incident.
Robert Owens is currently wanted by the police, with authorities considering him armed and dangerous. The Marion Police Department urges anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the McDowell County Communications Center at 828-652-4000.
