KETCHIKAN, Alaska (WANE) – A 57-year-old woman from Auburn, Indiana, was killed and three others injured after a tragic crash Thursday morning in Ketchikan, Alaska, according to the Ketchikan Police Department (KPD).
Police said the incident happened around 8:40 a.m. (AKDT) when a vehicle rolled out of a parking space, striking the woman as she walked on the sidewalk. The car then crashed through a fence and plunged into Ketchikan Creek.
The woman, a cruise ship passenger, was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. Her husband, who was nearby, attempted to rescue her, while other bystanders also entered the creek to help the woman and the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., crews removed the vehicle from the creek. The U.S. Coast Guard remained on scene downstream to monitor for possible fluid or contaminant leaks from the submerged car.
