What began as an ordinary Thursday evening ended in heartbreak for a Texas family after 35-year-old Katrina Wheeler was shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot in Seguin.
Police say officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 5 p.m. at the Walmart on South Highway 123 Bypass. When they arrived, they found Katrina suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 37-year-old man was also injured in the shooting and was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital for treatment.
Authorities later identified Katrina’s husband, 42-year-old John Wheeler, as the suspect. Investigators say he left the area before officers arrived but was later located outside the city by the New Berlin Marshal’s Office. Following a pursuit, he was taken into custody without incident.
The Walmart was closed as detectives processed the scene and interviewed witnesses.
As the investigation continues, a community is mourning the loss of a woman whose life was cut short in a shocking act of violence. Friends, family, and loved ones are now left to cope with an unimaginable loss.
