The Clark County community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Abigail Campbell, a Greenon Local Schools student, who tragically died in a single-car accident Wednesday morning. Abigail, also a member of the Greenon Girls Tennis Team and enrolled at the Springfield-Clark Career Technical Center (CTC), was driving a 2002 Dodge Stratus when her vehicle ran off the left side of Fairfield Pike near Hunter Road in Mad River Township and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner.

Superintendent Darrin Knapke expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the school, stating, “We are keeping Abigail’s family, friends, CTC, and our Greenon community in our thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time.” In response to the tragedy, the Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan (TECIP) team, along with counselors, are available to support students and staff.

The Springfield-Clark Career Technical Center has also deployed a crisis response team, including internal counselors, mental health professionals, and therapy dogs, to help students process the loss.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is conducting a preliminary investigation into the crash. While the cause is still under review, authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved.
