Evergreen High School Shooting: Suspect Dies from Self-Inflicted Injuries

A heartbreaking incident unfolded at Evergreen High School when a shooting disrupted what began as a typical school day, leaving the community in shock and grief. Authorities have confirmed that the male suspect — identified as a student at the school — died from self-inflicted injuries following the attack.

Officials said the shooting occurred on school grounds, though the exact number of shooters involved remains unclear. A public information officer told reporters the investigation is active and law enforcement is working to secure the area.

The first emergency alert went out shortly after 12:40 p.m. local time, warning the public of an “active assailant.” Authorities urged parents not to attempt to pick up their children until the scene was secure. By 1 p.m., a nearby elementary school was designated as a reunification site for families.

West Metro Fire Rescue confirmed it dispatched two ambulances, four medical staff, and a chief to assist.

The incident has shaken the community. Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-Colo.), who represents the district, said she was “shocked” and “heartbroken,” adding, “I’m hopeful that law enforcement is able to intervene & ensure all of our kids come home safe. We are in communication with local officials & will be there to support the Evergreen community.”

Law enforcement continues to search for answers while treating the event as an active shooter situation.
