12-Year-Old Girl Shot in Minneapolis Church Attack Released from Hospital
A 12-year-old girl who was shot in the head during a deadly attack at a Catholic church in Minneapolis in August has been released from the hospital, bringing a glimmer of hope to a community still shaken by the tragedy.
According to family members, the young girl spent over two months recovering from her injuries and undergoing multiple surgeries. Doctors describe her progress as “remarkable,” though she still faces a long road to full recovery.
The shooting occurred during a Sunday service at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, where several people were injured and one person was killed. Authorities said the gunman entered the church armed and opened fire before being subdued by police.
Community members have rallied around the girl and her family, organizing vigils, fundraisers, and prayer gatherings throughout her hospitalization. “Her strength and faith have inspired us all,” said one parish member. “We thank God she’s alive.”
Officials have not released further details about the ongoing investigation, but the suspect remains in custody facing multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder.
As the young survivor returns home, her family is asking for privacy and continued prayers. “She’s a fighter,” her mother said. “We’re just grateful she’s still with us.”
The church has since reopened for worship, with enhanced security measures and ongoing counseling support for parishioners affected by the shooting.
