NYPD Seeks Public’s Help in Hunt for “Armed and Dangerous” Suspect
The New York Police Department is urgently asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect described as “armed and dangerous” following the brutal killing of a couple in their 70s. Authorities say the man not only murdered the elderly pair but also set their home ablaze in an apparent attempt to cover his tracks.
According to investigators, the suspect has a lengthy criminal history spanning several decades, including a 16-year prison sentence for violent crimes. Police warn that his tactics are especially troubling: he is known to knock on doors pretending to need help—often claiming he must charge his phone—in order to gain entry to unsuspecting victims’ homes.
In this tragic case, officials believe he used that very ruse to approach the couple. Once inside, the encounter turned deadly, leaving behind a crime scene that has shocked the neighborhood and devastated loved ones.
The NYPD has increased patrols and is urging residents to remain vigilant. They caution the public not to engage with the suspect under any circumstances, but instead to immediately call 911 if spotted.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
