Two High School Students Fatally Stabbed in Vinnytsia Region; Suspect Detained
VINNYTSIA, Ukraine (Sept. 10, 2025) — Authorities in Vinnytsia Oblast are investigating a shocking double homicide after two high school students were found dead with stab wounds in the Shargorod community early Wednesday morning.
According to the Vinnytsia Regional Police, a local resident alerted officers after discovering the bodies of the teenagers. Responding units identified the victims as students in the 10th and 11th grades, both members of the same school community. Officials said the incident has left the small town reeling in grief and disbelief.
Police confirmed that a suspect has already been detained in connection with the killings. An investigative task force is actively working at the scene to collect evidence and reconstruct the events that led to the tragedy. Authorities have opened a criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to murder.
“The perpetrator, who may be involved in the deaths of the teenagers, has been detained. All the circumstances of the tragedy are being established,” law enforcement officials stated.
While investigators have not released the suspect’s identity or a possible motive, they stressed that the case is being treated with the utmost urgency. Community members gathered near the school Wednesday to mourn the victims, laying flowers and candles in their memory.
Counselors will be made available to classmates and families of the victims as the community struggles to cope with the devastating loss.
