TBI Issues AMBER Alert for 8-Year-Old Hancock County Girl
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has issued an AMBER Alert for an 8-year-old girl from Hancock County who was last seen in Sneedville.
Authorities are asking the public’s help in locating Samantha Shelly, described as 4 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 55 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Officials emphasized that Shelly has a medical condition that may affect her ability to return safely without assistance, making the search especially urgent.
The alert, issued early Wednesday morning, has already prompted a widespread response across the region, with law enforcement agencies and community members mobilizing to assist in the effort. The TBI has not released additional details regarding the circumstances of her disappearance, but officials are urging vigilance from residents statewide.
“Every moment counts in cases like this,” a TBI spokesperson said. “We are asking anyone who may have seen Samantha or has information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately.”
Authorities encourage the public to look out for children matching Samantha’s description, especially in and around Sneedville and neighboring communities.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office at 423-733-2249 or call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
The TBI reminds the public that even the smallest detail could be crucial in bringing Samantha home safely. The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
