Court Documents Reveal Pattern of Abuse in Augusta Double-Murder Case
Newly released court documents have shed disturbing light on the history of abuse leading up to a tragic double homicide in Augusta, Georgia.
On September 6, 2025, police say 36-year-old Hajir Talebzadeh fatally shot his ex-wife, Melissa Domingo, and her mother in the parking lot of a Best Buy on Walton Way Extension. Talebzadeh was later taken into custody after being treated for injuries sustained during the incident.
Court filings paint a troubling picture of the relationship between Talebzadeh and Domingo, who divorced in November 2024. A judge previously found a “pattern of psychological abuse, control, and threats” by Talebzadeh, along with credible claims of animal abuse. Records also reveal violent episodes, including one instance where Domingo said Talebzadeh pulled a gun on her and fired, narrowly missing her. In another alleged attack, he reportedly pushed her head into a toilet bowl.
The documents highlight the couple’s long custody battle over their five-year-old son. Ultimately, Domingo was awarded primary custody due to what the court described as Talebzadeh’s controlling behavior.
Tragically, this history of violence culminated in Sunday’s deadly attack. A memorial now stands outside Best Buy honoring Domingo and her mother, while a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with funeral costs and provide care for Domingo’s young son.
As Talebzadeh faces murder charges, the case is drawing renewed attention to the dangers of domestic violence and the devastating toll it can take on families and communities.
