Man Killed in Eastman Shootout After Firing Gun and Threatening Residents

Eastman, GA — A late-night confrontation on September 7 ended in tragedy when a 45-year-old man was killed during a shootout on 1st Avenue, according to a report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Authorities say Terrance Gordon, an Eastman native, was walking along 1st Avenue just after midnight when he began firing a gun into the air. Gordon then approached a nearby home and allegedly threatened the residents inside.

What followed quickly escalated into gunfire. According to the GBI, both Gordon and the homeowner exchanged shots, leaving each of them injured. When police arrived on the scene, they found Gordon suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Dodge County Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The homeowner was also transported to the hospital for treatment but has since been released. In his statement to investigators, the homeowner claimed self-defense, saying he was forced to protect himself and his family from Gordon’s threats and gunfire.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. The GBI is working alongside Eastman Police to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

This case highlights the unpredictable and often tragic consequences of gun violence in small communities. While Gordon’s actions appear to have set the stage for the confrontation, investigators will continue to examine the events that led to the deadly shootout.
