Remembering Kylon Malcolm: A Life Taken Too Soon
Grief weighs heavily on our hearts today as we mourn the loss of Kylon Malcolm, a 23-year-old father, nephew, and entrepreneur whose life was tragically cut short by violence.
Kylon was not a menace to society. He was a dreamer and a doer, a young man who fought against the odds to build a better life for himself and his daughter — his pride and joy. At just 23, he opened a small mini-mart, starting with soft drinks and snacks, writing down customer requests with the hope of expanding one day to meet every need. His dedication and ambition began to bear fruit.
But beyond business, Kylon’s heart was even bigger. Every Christmas, he quietly gave back to the community, blessing two or three families with food hampers. He knew struggle firsthand and wanted others to feel cared for.
Today, he lies in the morgue, still awaiting an autopsy, while his killer walks free. It is unbearable to accept that such a promising young man — a father, a son, a nephew — could be stolen from us in this way.
To his daughter, family, and loved ones, this pain runs deep. One more child is left without a father because of senseless violence. Yet we cling to faith, for the Bible says, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Our tears will not fall in vain. Justice must be served, and Kylon’s legacy of love, ambition, and generosity will never be forgotten.
