Victims Identified in Chula Vista Halloween Party Shooting as Barney O’Kane
Authorities have identified both teenage victims killed in Friday night’s Halloween party shooting in Chula Vista as 17-year-old Barney O’Kane and 15-year-old “Yung Eli.”
The shooting took place around 11:17 p.m. in the 00 block of East Prospect Street, where officers with the Chula Vista Police Department responded to multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police found the two teens suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to UCSD Medical Center, where they later died despite life-saving efforts.
Investigators say the victims were attending a Halloween gathering when a verbal altercation escalated into gunfire. The motive remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced.
Detectives believe that several witnesses may have captured video of the incident on their phones and are urging them to come forward.
