Fatal Shooting Outside Malibu Jacks Leaves One Dead, Teen in Custody
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — A deadly shooting outside Malibu Jacks early Sunday morning has left one young woman dead and another man wounded, according to the North Richland Hills Police Department.
Officers were called just after midnight to the 8600 block of Airport Freeway, where they found a 21-year-old woman fatally shot. She was later identified as DaShayla Jones by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. A 23-year-old man also sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Authorities said his condition is stable and his injuries are not life-threatening.
Investigators revealed the incident stemmed from an altercation involving several people before shots were fired. Police recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.
Three 18-year-old men were taken into custody shortly after the incident. Detectives later clarified that two of the teens were not directly involved in the homicide. The third, a Fort Worth resident, was arrested in connection with the shooting and is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
Two off-duty officers at the scene acted quickly, returning fire at the suspects and rendering emergency aid to the injured male victim before medical personnel arrived.
Authorities have not yet released the suspects’ names. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to piece together what led up to the tragic confrontation.
