Man Shot and Killed After Alleged Break-In at South Tulsa Apartment

Tulsa Police are investigating a Halloween night homicide after a man was shot and killed during what investigators believe was a home invasion at a South Tulsa apartment complex.

According to police, the incident happened on October 31, 2025, around 11:50 p.m., at the Crossing at Silver Oaks Apartments, located near 71st Street and Yale Avenue. Officers were dispatched after multiple callers reported hearing approximately 20 gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Jamond Silas dead in front of an apartment door, with a firearm lying next to his body.

At the scene, a man came forward and told police he shot Silas in self-defense. He explained that he had been inside his apartment when Silas kicked in the door and forced entry, prompting him to fire his weapon to protect himself.

Police questioned the shooter and later released him pending further investigation. Authorities say all findings will be forwarded to the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether any charges will be filed.

Investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to confirm the events that led up to the shooting.

The Tulsa Police Department urges anyone with additional information to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
