Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Homicide After Deadly Incident on South Almond Avenue

YUMA, Ariz. — Authorities in Yuma are investigating a homicide following a fatal incident that occurred late Friday night. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) reported that deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of South Almond Avenue around 10:18 p.m. on September 5, 2025, after receiving reports of an unresponsive man.

When deputies arrived, they found a male victim suffering from severe injuries. Emergency crews from the Rural Metro Fire Department provided immediate medical assistance, and the victim was transported to Ovidnia Health before being airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital for advanced treatment. Despite extensive efforts, he later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Michael Patrick Reiter of Yuma, Arizona. His family has been notified.

The YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau has taken over the case, treating it as a homicide investigation. Detectives processed the scene throughout the night, collecting evidence and speaking with residents who may have witnessed the incident.

No suspects or motives have yet been confirmed, and investigators stress that the case remains active and ongoing. Community members have expressed shock and concern, with many calling for answers as law enforcement continues its work.
