Driver Charged After Fiery Crash Kills Passenger in Clearfield County

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. — State police have charged 28-year-old Daniel Collier of Osceola Mills following a deadly, fiery crash that claimed the life of 25-year-old Logan Hollabaugh in Morris Township earlier this year.

According to investigators, the August 8 crash occurred on Old Turnpike Road when Collier, who was allegedly speeding and intoxicated, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree. The impact sparked a fire that trapped Hollabaugh inside the car, leading to his death from asphyxiation, according to the Clearfield County Coroner.

Collier reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana and taking a sip of alcohol prior to the crash. Troopers found empty alcohol containers and a bottle of liquor inside the vehicle. A blood test later revealed the presence of THC and fentanyl, and a crash reconstruction determined Collier was traveling between 61 and 74 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Collier now faces more than a dozen charges, including Homicide by Vehicle While DUI, Involuntary Manslaughter, and Aggravated Assault by Vehicle.

He remains in custody at the Clearfield County Jail on $100,000 bail, as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic incident.
