A tragic accident in Palm Harbor claimed the life of a 57-year-old man from Holiday on Friday night after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross U.S. Highway 19.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 9:27 p.m. near the intersection of Dolly Bay Drive. Troopers reported that the man was crossing the highway heading west when he entered the path of a northbound BMW 530i driven by a 28-year-old Port Richey man.

The impact proved fatal, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene despite immediate emergency response. Authorities confirmed that the driver was not injured during the collision.

The incident forced temporary traffic delays in the area as investigators worked to gather evidence and document the circumstances surrounding the crash. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.

FHP has not released the name of the pedestrian, pending notification of next of kin. The crash remains under active investigation, and it is not yet known whether factors such as speed, impairment, or visibility played a role.
