MISSION, Texas — A tragic drive-by shooting early Friday morning has left one man dead and a family shattered in a quiet Mission neighborhood. Authorities say the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on La Homa Road, where a gunman opened fire on a residence he was familiar with.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect had been at the home earlier in the night and left after a dispute with the victim, who was described as a friend. Investigators believe the suspect later returned with a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the house in what appears to have been a targeted act of violence.
The victim was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. His pregnant wife, who was inside the home at the time, was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and is reported to be in stable condition. Their teenage son, who was also present, was unharmed physically but now faces the heartbreaking task of identifying the person responsible for killing his father.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity, but community members say the alleged shooter knew the family well, heightening the sense of betrayal and devastation. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses as they work to bring justice in the case.
