Man Fatally Shot Outside Hawthorne Home After Attempting to Help Assault Victim
The community is mourning the loss of 27-year-old Giovanni Ruiz, who was tragically shot outside his family’s home on Friday, October 24. According to relatives, the shooting occurred during a Halloween gathering hosted by Giovanni’s younger brother.
Witnesses say a fight broke out between four unidentified individuals and another party guest. After the altercation ended, Giovanni reportedly stepped in to help the injured man to his feet. Moments later, shots were fired, striking Giovanni in the throat and shoulder. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Giovanni’s brother, Mario Ruiz, shared a heartfelt message on social media asking the public to come forward with any photos, videos, or information that could help identify the suspects. “Anything and everything helps,” he wrote. “From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.”
