2 Killed in Helicopter Crash Near Penn’s Peak in Carbon County

PENN FOREST TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two people were killed Thursday afternoon when a helicopter crashed in a wooded area near the Penn’s Peak concert venue on Maury Road in Carbon County.

The crash occurred around 3:00 p.m., drawing a major response from local police, firefighters, and EMS crews. The aircraft went down in dense woods not far from the concert hall, according to initial dispatch reports.

The Carbon County Coroner’s Office confirmed that both individuals aboard the helicopter were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

No injuries were reported on the ground.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been notified and will oversee the investigation into the cause of the crash. Federal investigators are expected to arrive on-site to examine the wreckage and gather evidence.

Emergency personnel remain in the area tonight, securing the scene and assisting investigators.
